Onomatopoeia / Alliteration

We exchanged names and I told her mine, even though my name is quite common , I mean come on I think we all know at least one person named Matthew haha.

Similes , Metaphors, Personification

I went there today, the sun was naked.

Replacing words

We talked for a while.
we chatted for a while.

Deleting words

I have a little place I like to go when I want to escape reality

I have a little place I like to go.

The 5 Senses

See: Watching the nice calm water
Hear: The sound of the wind skimming through the trees
Smell:  Scent of fresh crisp air mixed with a hint of earth
Taste: Fresh crisp air mixed with a hint of earth,it's almost as you can taste it.
Feel: When it was time for her to go we shook hands, her hands were softer than a marshmallow.

Deleting words.

 But today was different

But not just that, today was different.

It's been a while since you blogged. A shame because I can see some cool thinking going on with your experimentation with language. Her's an idea: choose something really cool as an 'opening sentence'. See if you can then add 3-4 sentences to that as a story starter, using some of the techniques you played with in this blog post. Try this as a starter:
"As I turned the corner my blood ran cold at the sight that met my eyes....."
